White Composite Dental Filling

Why might you need a dental filling?

A dental filling is a procedure used to restore a hole, cavity, or damaged tooth back to its normal function and shape. Dental caries are the most common infectious disease and most common cause of tooth cavity.

What is a composite dental filling?

In the past, metallic or amalgam material were used most of the time to restore tooth cavities.  Composite resin is a newer version of restorative material which is bonded to the tooth surface and cosmetically appears the same as a natural tooth. The colour of composite resin can be matched meticulously to the colour shade of your teeth.

Dental Fillings FAQs

How long do dental fillings last?

Usually dental fillings can last anywhere from 7 to 20 years. Good oral hygiene is important for maintaining the filling.

Does getting a dental filling hurt?

Dr Kia will numb the area around the tooth with a local anaesthetic to ensure you are absolutely comfortable during the treatment. In other words, getting a filling does not hurt at all. In fact, when you restore a decayed tooth, you eliminate the pain that often results from the cavity.
