Dental Crown and Bridge

Concord & North Strathfield Dental Clinic –  What is a Dental Crown?

We provide Dental crowns at our North Strathfield dental clinic  to cover a broken or decayed tooth when too much of the original tooth is missing.  A dental crown is a tooth-shaped, custom-made cap that fits over an existing tooth either for protection, function and/or cosmetic enhancement. Our North Strathfield Dentist also uses dental crowns to protect a weak tooth from breaking, and to cover yellow stained or mis-shaped or chipped teeth. Dr Kia has almost 20 years experience with using Dental Crowns to transform peoples smiles. A dental crown can be a fast and long lasting dental solution.

Concord Dental Clinic - What is a Dental Bridge?

We use a dental bridge at our Concord & North Strathfield dental clinic to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge is made of one or more false teeth that are joined to two dental crowns on the natural teeth on either end of the gap creating a ‘bridge’. A bridge is recommended when the two teeth on either side of the gap need to be treated by crown. This way, it is great treatment for both missing and weakened/broken teeth.

DENTAL CROWNS AND BRIDGES FAQs FOR CONCORD & NORTH STRATHFIELD

WHY MIGHT I BENEFIT FROM A DENTAL CROWN FROM OUR NORTH STRATHFIELD & CONCORD DENTAL CLINIC?

A dental crown may be needed for many reasons including:

  • to protect a cracked tooth from breaking,
  • to restore a broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down
  • to protect a weakened tooth due to caries
  • to cover a severely discoloured tooth
  • to cover and support a tooth with a large filling or root canal treatment
  • to hold a dental bridge in place or to restore a dental implant

WHAT IS A DENTAL CROWN MADE FROM?

A permanent tooth crown can be made from different materials like metal (such as gold or another alloy), metal covered by ceramic, all ceramic, and zirconia.
At Distinct Dental Centre, North Strathfield & Concord, we believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to design a crown and choose the material. The remaining tooth structure, the nature of the crack, the location of the tooth, and the bite and opposing tooth condition should be carefully assessed before making decision about the tooth crown design and material.
At Distinct dental centre all types of the tooth crown design and material are available and following a thorough clinical assessment your dentist can discuss your options and help you to choose the best material for your tooth crown.

WHAT IS A DENTAL BRIDGE MADE OF?

As with crowns, the materials used for bridges are also made from zirconia or porcelain or porcelain fused to metal, with the result being a long term and natural looking solution to missing teeth.

A COMFORTABLE JOURNEY TO YOUR NEW SMILE

The good news is that as we use 3D scanner, you don’t need to tolerate gag-inducing unfavourable impression material anymore, so not only the process of crown preparation is much more comfortable, but also the scanner will take the measurements with higher accuracy which will result in perfectly fitted crowns
