What are retainers?

Once your orthodontic treatment is complete, you’ll officially enter the retention phase. This is when we ensure your beautifully aligned teeth stay in their new ideal position and don’t slip back to their old ways. We do this by holding your teeth in their new alignment until your bone, gums and muscles adapt using one of two options:

Retainer Options

Removable retainers – Similar to Invisalign clear aligners these retainers can be removed if required.
Fixed, or permanent, retainers – these are small wires that are fitted to the back surface of your teeth to hold them in position. These retainers can last up to 10 years.
